I took this picture of Alex on Tuesday because he was being sooooo cute. This was taken just before he went down for a nap.
Well school is under way and Patrick seems to be enjoying his classes. I had the opportunity to go to a sample class. Harvard gave all the spouses a case to read and study. It was really fun. The case was about the Cirque Du Soleil. Then we went to class. There were even assigned seats. I told this one girl that I was sure that the professor would not cold call anyone. They wouldn't do that to the partners. I was sure it was just to get a little taste of what class is like for our students. I felt so bad Mimi was cold called right after I told her that!!!!!! The class was awesome. We discussed potential problems that Cirque faces and we tried to come up with solutions. I was called on a lot because I have a mom who loves Las Vegas and I happen to have seen Cirque a couple of times. (Being called on is a big deal for students. Fifty percent of their grade is based on participation in class.)
Evidently the second year students who take an advanced course in human behavior actually study that case. Also, they get to talk directly to the head man at Cirque Guy Laliberte. It was so much fun I was almost jealous of Patrick. Then I came home and he was snuggling with the baby. It was weird to change rolls for the night. When I saw him snuggling with Alex I wasn't so jealous. My job being a mom is so cool, I really don't feel like I am missing out. I sat next to my friend Alisa. She lives in the same building as we do. She is on the fourth floor and we are on the second floor.
I took these two pictures of Patrick and Alex getting ready to leave for his class's social tonight. They went to the social and went for a walk and I went to girls night.
Tonight was "Girls Night". Evidently their is this LDSSA club for all the women who are LDS and have husbands at HBS. To be honest it felt like the sorority experience is supposed to be. It is a night where the girls get together and make friends and support each other as women in the gospel. But we do fun stuff... like bowling. I was really hesitant at first to participate because I was worried that it would be "exclusive". But I found out that I can invite any of my friends who are wives at HBS to come. I met some pretty cool people. One girl has a four month old baby and her husband has been working in Tokyo for the last two years. Everyone here has a really interesting story. I think we are pretty plain being Mormons from salt lake, but other people haven't really realized that we are pretty strait forward. People here really don't seem to care how smart you are or aren't they just are excited to meet you. Even the career driven women students I have met totally respect homemakers.
