Labor day was really different for me this year. Instead of going to Lake Powell with the family... which still sounds like a lot of fun. Patrick and I went to the shore. Up at Winter Island, Harvard sponsored a meet and greet clam bake. There was lobster for 200 people. I have never seen anything like it. I joined a the Partners Club and the club for women with children called Crimson Kids. Even though Patrick isn't really a lobster fan he had a lot of fun taunting the baby with the lobster.
After the dinner was over the three of us went to the waters edge. The water was pretty chilly. Patrick and Alex put their feet in the Atlantic. For Alex this was a first. For Patrick this was the first time that he had put his feet in this side of the Atlantic.(He has put his feet in the Atlantic in Spain.) Alex had been fussing and crying for about a half an hour. So, we figured if he was already mad we might as well get his feet wet. He was really upset when we put his feet in the water. But, after we took him out of the water he really calmed down. I guess now I understand the phrase "You want something to cry about? I'll give you something to cry about!" Evidently after we took Alex's feet out of the water he realized life wasn't so bad. It could be worse, he could be a fish in the Atlantic.
