Halloween was really a three day affair this year. It started on Wednesday. Alex won Best kids costume at the ward party. His prize was a container of bubbles. He loves the bubbles. He has spent the last five days trying to figure out where the bubbles go when they disappear.
The next major event was the Crimson Kids Halloween Party on campus. Alex was pretty tired, but we stuffed some grapes and pizza in him and he was good to go. That was where he first ran into the Bee. Reina was a Bee. It was pretty funny because it took her a while to realize that it was Alex inside the costume. Once she knew it was him, she kept touching his face. She was just holding onto the only part of him that she recognized. Sometimes when his ear came out of his hood she'd grab his hood. He didn't mind and it was really funny.
On Halloween morning we ate Orange rolls and carved pumpkins.
Alex has been working on his "monster sounds" for Halloween. It is a game we play where he roars and I shreik. This goes back and forth until he gets tired of it... never. So, I was cleaning up pumpkin guts and I could hear him in our bedroom making monster shoudns and shreiking. I went in there to discover that he was roaring at himself in the mirror and then shreiking. I got a couple of pics of him mid roar.
So, after a few laughs Patrick and I went back to cleaning up pumpkin guts. While I was lighting the pumpkins Patrick found Alex in our bed with Saltine crackers. He was rolling around giggling blisfully going through a while box of saltines in our bed. What is it with food in our bed? First it was the strawberries and now crackers!? He had also very carefully balances a cracker on top of our lava lamp, and lined several up along the radiator on the wall.
So we finally get out the door and go trick or treating! We went with the Harpers. Reina was a Bee. And she was so cute. We went door to door at beacon hill and had a really grat time. I had so many pictures that I put together a slide show of the whole day. I am singling out the picture of Alex and Patrick with John Kerry... in case you don't want to watch the whole slide show. Oh yeah, did I mention that Kerry lives on Beacon Hill?
Also in case you are wondering I learned two things: John Kerry's wife was really sweet, and they gave out pretzels.

Wow! You have been doing some serious blogging! I love the costume, so so so cute! He is SO dang cute, I can't even believe it! Also, that is so crazy you ran into John Kerry! I love seeing what you guys are doing, and seeing pictures of that cute boy! We miss you! Carsen wants you to come so he can go to swimming lessons...apparently he thinks that if you come it will magically be summer and he can go to swimmy school!
He is the cutest little turkey ever! I wish we could have seen it in person!
Oh my hilarious Patricia! I loved the pictures of Alex in front of the mirror roaring! Your pumpkins are amazing and I love the shot from above of Alex and Patrick carving the pumpkins. His costume is by far the coolest I've ever seen! Gotta have a pic with Kerry. What a way fun Halloween--thanks for sharing your pumpkin dinner with us! We will never forget this Halloween!
