Figs with Reeds

So on Saturday we explored Beacon Hill with our friends the Reeds. While we were out we ate at Figs. This is a pizza joint. We decided not to eat dessert because we wanted to explore the area... maybe there would be some little ice cream shop that we could enjoy? We ended up having yummy strawberry shortcake and playing board games with Brittany and Scott.

But since Saturday I have been reprimanded because we didn't eat dessert at figs. I have a response to this reprimand. I love dessert and I know that it is probably fantastic at Figs. But honestly there are many many restaruants that make great dessert. Yummy dessert isn't what really impresses me... any restaraunt can make a good dessert. This is because almost everyone loves dessert. But if a restaraunt can make inventive delectible concoctions which inspire me... well then I'll order dessert. Food is like music. You can listen to a pretty good radio station when you are in the car and it passes the time away. But have you ever had those rare moments when a song is so good that you stay in the car after you have arrived home, for just a moment, so that you can finish listening to the song on the radio. That is dessert. It has to be an inspiring meal that causes me to sit for an extra 30-45 minutes in a restaraunt to eat hundreds of unnecessary calories.

Further more, if a place is known for fabulous dessert and nothing else then maybe it should changes itself from a pizza-pasta place to desserterie. I will go back to figs someday and when I do I will skip the entree and order the dessert. That way i can follow your recommendations... and there are several of you... you know who you are...and then I will answer those of you who told me to try the dessert. But surely you must agree that the pizza at Figs is nothing special. It isn't bad, but it isn't noteworthy.

Evidently Alex disagrees with my opinion. He loved the pizza.
