A tree of our very own!

The last several years we have traveled to see family for Christmas. This year we live in the same state as our family so we are staying here. One word of advice it to remember how tall your ceiling is. Patrick thought it was nine feet tall. I assured him it was ten feet. Taking my word for it and ending up with a nine foot ceiling meant we had to chop 12 inches off the top!

Luckily there is a nursery two blocks from our house. Patrick was able to help get the tree during his lunch break.

Alta Dude!

Alex had is first day on his very own skis yesterday. And he loved it! The best part was when we let him glide on the snow back and forth between us. There is a definite learning curve for teaching your toddler how to ski.

First lesson was that it is bad when you run out of hill to ski down, Alex will always want more hill. Second lesson was that it would be easier to wear Alpine boots skis instead of telemark. Third lesson, its not a good idea to keep goldfish crackers in your knee pocket, he doesn't want them and eventually you WILL have to kneel down. Next time I will wear a backpack, strap my poles to it, and have a place to put our cameras. Hand warmers are a must for the little dude. Get a harness or a hoola hoop and let him experiment with gliding on his own. Crashing is the best part. (according to Alex!)

New Skis
The Romark Ski swap was really good to Alex this year! He loved his goggles so much that he insists on sleeping with them in his bed.

Tiny Kayaker

One of these days he'll be big enough to hold his own paddle. In the meantime he can sit in daddy's lap.

New to Me
We have a piano!!!! (Pictures to come soon!) Patrick's grandparents gave us their 100 year old player piano, and we love it. It's in our bedroom so that I can practice and sing during Alex's naptime. I didn't anticipate how much Alex also loves the piano. When the movers brought it in we had fun playing "twinkle twinkle" and "the little lamb song". (Mary had a Little Lamb)
Alex: This is Grandma's piano.
Patricia: Well, actually this is Mommy, Daddy and Alex's piano--it's ours.
Alex: ours?
Patricia: Yep.
Alex: Ours?
Patricia: yes its our-
Alex(interrupting): IT'S OUR PIANO!
Then Alex laid his head on the keys and started to cry.
Patricia: "Alex, whats wrong?"
Alex still crying: "I love piano."
Well Alex, I agree!
